On Monday, January 10, 2022, BPS Kabupaten Barito Selatan conducted a Ubi Kayu (Cassava) Crop Cutting Survey in Wungkur Baru Village, Gunung Bintang Awai Subdistrict. The activity was also attended by the Head of BPS Barito Selatan Regency, along with the Village Secretary (Sekdes) and Agricultural Extension Officer (PPL) of Wungkur Baru.
The survey is conducted at the end of each previous sub-round (December, April, and August) to update the list of agricultural households. The sample households chosen are those engaged in food crop farming, specifically paddy and other food crops (palawija).
This survey is conducted nationwide, with sample areas in every subdistrict for paddy commodities, and in Dusun Utara & Gunung Bintang Awai subdistricts for maize commodities in Kabupaten Barito Selatan. The survey is carried out by visiting respondents and jointly heading to the food crop farming fields. Using a crop cutting tool, a sample area of 2.5 m x 2.5 m is measured, and the yield within this area is weighed using a digital scale. Data on productivity and other supporting data are then collected through a printed questionnaire.
The goal of this Crop Cutting Survey is to gather information on food crop productivity and other supporting data, which are crucial for agricultural statistics.
