The National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) is a survey conducted by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) designed specifically to collect labor force data. Sakernas is held biannually, with Semester I taking place in February and Semester II in August.
The updating of household data serves as the basis for sample selection. The updating schedule for Barito Selatan Regency will run from January 27 to February 7, 2022. The goal of this updating process is to provide an accurate count of households within a census block. The updating will be conducted door-to-door, checking for the presence of households (whether they are found, moved in/out of Barito Selatan, had a change of head of household, merged with another household, or are newly formed). In addition to checking the household’s status, information will be gathered on the number of toddlers and the presence of pregnant women at 9 months gestation.
In general, the goal of the February 2022 Sakernas data collection is to provide continuous basic labor force data. Specifically, Sakernas aims to gather estimates on the number of employed individuals, the unemployed, and other labor force indicators, along with their trends at the national, provincial, and district/city levels. Furthermore, the February 2022 Sakernas also aims to collect information on the impact of COVID-19 on employment in Indonesia.
For Sakernas February 2022, a rapid processing of data will be conducted to obtain early indications and changes in strategic labor force indicators (such as the unemployment rate and other employment indicators) at the national level. The rapid processing will be carried out in 1,000 selected census blocks, which are part of the sample for the survey, spread across 34 provinces. The rapid processing will prioritize the activities in the selected census blocks for all stages of the survey, including household listing, sample selection, data collection, processing, and data transmission.
