Abstract

The labor force in August 2019 was 1,384.7 thousand people, up by 29.3 thousand compared to August 2018.

The population working in Kalimantan Tengah in August 2019 was 1,327.9 thousand people, an increase of 26.9 thousand compared to August 2018.

The August 2019 Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) is 4.10 percent, an increase of 0.09 points compared to August 2018.

In August 2019, the main jobs were in agriculture, forestry and fisheries (38.01 percent), the wholesale and retail sector, car and motorcycle repair (15.69 percent), and government administration, defense and social security (7.89 percent).

In August 2019, 50.04 percent of the population worked in formal activities and 49.96 percent of the population worked in informal activities. During the past year (August 2018-August 2019) formal workers rose 1.43 points while informal workers fell 1.43 points.

In August 2019, there were 29.13 percent of the population working not fully (working hours less than 35 hours a week). Of the full-time workers, 6.13 percent are half the unemployed and 23.00 percent part-time workers. In the past year, half the unemployed fell by 1.10 points, while part-time workers fell by 0.51 points.
