Abstract

In September 2019, the number of poor people (residents with per capita expenditure per month below the Poverty Line) in Kalimantan Tengah reached 131.24 thousand people (4.81 percent), a decrease of 3.35 thousand people compared to the conditions in March 2019 which amounted to 134.59 thousand people (4.98 percent).
  • The percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2019 was 4.47 percent, down to 4.28 percent in September 2019. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas in March 2019 was 5.33 percent, down to 5.17 percent in September 2019.
  • During the period March 2019 - September 2019, the number of poor people in urban areas decreased by 1.56 thousand people (from 48.56 thousand people in March 2019 to 47 thousand people in September 2019), while in rural areas decreased 1.80 thousand people (from 86.04 thousand people in March 2019 to 84.24 thousand people in September 2019).
  • The role of food commodities towards the Poverty Line by 79.01 percent. The three types of food commodities that had the greatest influence on the value of the Poverty Line were rice, filtered clove cigarettes, and purebred chicken. While the five dominant non-food commodities are the cost of housing, electricity, gasoline, education and toiletries.
