Abstract

The workforce in August 2020 was 1,381.4 thousand people, an increase of 7 thousand people compared to August 2019.
  • The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in August 2020 was 4.58 percent, an increase of 0.54 percentage points compared to August 2019.
  • The population working in Kalimantan Tengah in August 2020 was 1,318.1 thousand people, a decrease of 0.8 thousand people compared to August 2019.
  • The main jobs that absorb the most labor are in the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries sector (38.15 percent), the Wholesale and Retail Trade sector, Car and Motorcycle Repair (17.36 percent), and Government Administration, Defense and Social Security. (7.55 percent).
  • As much as 55.80 percent of the population work in informal activities while 44.20 percent of the population work in formal activities. Informal workers rose 4.78 percentage points compared to August 2019.
  • In the past year, the percentage of underemployed workers increased by 2.00 percentage points, while part-time workers increased by 3.59 percentage points.
  • There are 190.3 thousand people affected by Covid-19 or 9.42 percent. Consisting of unemployment due to Covid-19 (9.3 thousand people), non workforce due to Covid-19 (6.2 thousand people), temporarily unemployed due to Covid-19 (10.8 thousand people), and working residents who experienced reduced hours. work because of Covid-19 (164 thousand people).
