Abstract

  • In August 2023, the combined cities of Palangka Raya and Sampit experienced a deflation of 0.20 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 117.28. Of the 90 CPI cities, 44 cities experienced inflation, while 46 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Manokwari by 0.55 percent with a CPI of 122.04 and the highest deflation occurred in Waingapu by 1.20 percent with a CPI of 114.93.
  • The combined deflation of the City of Palangka Raya and Sampit in August 2023 occurred due to a decrease in the price index in the food, beverage and tobacco group (0.53 percent), the transportation group (0.48 percent), and the equipment, equipment and routine home maintenance group stairs (0.06 percent).
  • Calendar year inflation (August 2023 to December 2022) for the combined Municipalities of Palangka Raya and Sampit was recorded at 1.42 percent and year-on-year inflation (August 2023 against August 2022) was 2.99 percent.
  • Commodities contributing to inflation in August 2023 include spinach, cayenne pepper, garlic, filter clove cigarettes, prescription drugs, household fuels, junior high schools, gold jewelry, diesel and white cigarettes.
  • Commodities contributing to deflation in August 2023 include purebred chicken, air freight, shallots, rice, saluang fish, tomatoes, snakehead fish, baung fish, wet shrimp and cucumber.
